Funding Suggestions

Our Fund of Diversity has been established to support local LGBT+ Projects, Charities and Causes.

We may raise the money for the fund but we want you to help us spend it!

Do you know of a local LGBT+ cause that needs support?  All you need to do it tell us below the name of the Charity, Project or Cause and the reason why you think they should be given funding and the benefit it would bring local LGBT+ people. In some cases, we may contact you for further information.

You also have the opportunity to support suggestions that you see listed here: You can vote For a suggestion, Against a suggestion or vote to say that you're indifferent to a suggestion. Whilst any votes received won't have any effect on the trustees decisions, it helps inform us about local priorities and need.

Every two months, the Club F.O.D trustees will meet to discuss suggestions and make a decision as to who we can support.  Before we make any donation, we will risk assess and carry our due diligence to make sure that:

  • The charity/group/organisation/project is genuine and competent
  • The charity/group/organisation/project supports are charitable aims
  • The charity/group/organisation/project are able to evidence that the donation has been used for its intended purpose

We are unable to make donations to organisations that have commercial interests. Where a project or cause is identified and is being led by an individual rather than a group or organisation, due diligence and risk assessment will help us determine whether any identified private or personal benefits are purely incidental. Sometimes, we will offer support rather than a donation. For example, we were approached by a few members of the LGBT+ Community who wanted to establish a local LGBT+ radio station. The trustees felt that as it was a project that was already in our pipeline for Club F.O.D at Home, we would offer support rather than a donation which the individuals were appreciative of and together, we have proudly launched Radio F.O.D.

When making a donation, we will stipulate in writing how we expect that donation to be used to ensure that it is in line with our purposes and we have devised a reporting mechanism where we can monitor its use so that we can be confident that the donation has been used in this way. We will ensure that there is an audit trail for the donation made and that there are proper records that show it is being used for the purpose that it was intended for. Alongside formal reporting, we anticipate verbal reporting for low risk projects and in some cases ‘self-certification’ may suffice along with suitable evidence such as photographs and beneficiary feedback/testimony.

Don't forget, if you are a charity, cause or project seeking financial assistance, you don't need to wait for someone to nominate you: send an email to [email protected] and we will send you grant application form to complete.
